A Small Victory is the eleventh episode of the third season of Dragon Tales.

Summary[]

When the friends are asked to get some rare flowers for the school’s garden and with some encouragement from Lorca, Max learns to not let his size bother him and that you should think about what you can do, not what you can't do.

Plot[]

Max, Emmy, and Enrique are playing Monkey in the Middle, Max is the monkey but when he can’t catch the ball, he quits because he’s small. Emmy and Enrique try to encourage Max, but then the Dragon Scale glows.

When they arrive in Dragon Land, Ord hugs Max and calls him "little buddy," which, unusually, offends Max, so Ord just calls him "buddy." As it turns out, Quetzal has a task for the friends, and Lorca is going to help as well. Each year the students at the School in the Sky students are given an assignment to make the school better, and this year they are going to find some plants and flowers to the school's garden. They are partnered up and given one plant to find: Enrique and Ord are partnered up, Cassie and Emmy are together (as usual), Zak and Wheezie being two are a pair (as had usually been the case in the first two seasons), and Max is with Lorca. Max asks Quetzal if he could find someone else to find their plant, but Lorca turns that down. He points out they have to search on the ground, but Lorca assures him that he always says, "Think about what you can do, not what you can't do." As they set off, Max repeats his words to himself.

Zak and Wheezie find their flower, the Squirting Myrtle, it isn't until after they find the plant do they find out why it's called that (they get sprayed), next Emmy and Cassie find the Feather Flower, which is a plant that loves to tickle others. Cassie gets tickled while Emmy digs up the plant. Ord and Enrique find their plant, a Locking Lily, they think they'll be done in no time, unfortunately, the plant locks itself in a cage. This leaves the two wondering what to do. Max and Lorca find their plant, a Bashful Herb. Lorca points out if they were flying they wouldn't have found it, but unfortunately, it's high up. They figure out a way to get the plant down by attaching their shovel to a stick and get it down. After putting the plant in a pot, a Jokaroo gets it after they scare it. Max tries to catch it but it's too fast, Lorca says it's being playful. To get back the plant, the two start playing catch with a piece of fruit which the Jokaroo catches, and they get the plant back. Cassie and Emmy come with the feather flower which has a handkerchief over it so it wouldn't tickle them. The four hear noises nearby, it is Ord and Enrique who have tried to dig up the Locking Lily but cannot. Max gets an idea, using the feather flower, the locking lily is tickled open. Eventually all the flowers are planted at the school and Quetzal is proud of the students.
