Dialogue[]

  • [The episode starts in the playroom, where Emmy is showing Max her yo-yo tricks.]
  • Emmy: And this trick is called ‘the sleeper’, Max.
  • [Emmy shows him the sleeper trick, in which the yo-yo hangs low to the ground for a few seconds before going back up.]
  • Max: Cool! Can I try?
  • Emmy: Uh-uh. You don’t know how to use a yo-yo. You might break it.
  • [Emmy puts her yo-yo up on top of the coatrack where Max can’t reach. However, Max goes over to the rack and shakes it, making the yo-yo fall right into his hands. Emmy catches a glimpse at this.]
  • Emmy: [dropping her doll] Max! No!
  • [Max tries to use the yo-yo, but once it hits the floor, it instantly breaks.]
  • Max: Uh oh.
  • Emmy: You broke it!
  • Max: Sorry.
  • Emmy: [angrily picking up the pieces] You never listen! Gimme the string! [She winds up the string on the yo-yo pieces while glaring at Max.]
  • Max: Maybe Ord can put it back together. Or Cassie.
  • Emmy: I hope so, or else!
  • [Close-up on the dragon scale in the children's hands.]
  • Emmy and Max: I wish, I wish, with all my heart, to fly with dragons, in a land apart.
  • [As usual, the dragons on the wallpaper come to life, fly and fly around the children.]
  • [In Dragon Land, the dragon friends are playing jumprope near the Stickleback Mountains. Zak and Wheezie are the ones jumping. Ord is turning one end of the rope on Zak's side, and Cassie is turning the other end on Wheezie's side.]
  • Wheezie: [singing to the tune of "London Bridge"] ♪Dragon Land is falling down,♪ ♪Falling down,♪ ♪Falling down,♪
  • [At this point, they land on their hands.]
  • Wheezie: [still singing] ♪Dragon Land is falling down,♪ ♪My fair...♪
  • [But before she could finish, the rope gets tangled up all over them, including Zak's neck.]
  • Zak: [irritated] Wheezie!
  • [Zak and Wheezie are the ones falling down.]
  • Cassie: [worried] Zak! Wheezie! Are you okay?
  • Wheezie: Ha! Couldn't be better!
  • Zak: [spits out grass twice] I could.
  • [Flashes appear as Emmy and Max arrive. Wheezie giggles.]
  • Ord: Hey, Max, Emmy. Whatcha doin'?
  • Max: [sadly] I broke Emmy's yo-yo.
  • Ord: Oh, that's terrible. [scratching his head] What's a yo-yo?
  • Emmy: It's a cool toy you tie to your finger and move up and down.
  • [She tries to demonstrate, but the pieces come apart.]
  • Emmy: Uh. [putting the pieces together] It was a cool toy. Can anybody help me fix it?
  • [Wheezie takes the pieces, including the string]
  • Wheezie: Ah, all it needs is something sticky to keep it together.
  • [She hands them to Zak, rummages through her side of the pouch, then takes a piece of gum from Zak's side, puts it in her mouth, chews it with her mouth open, takes it out of her mouth with her fingers, and sandwiches the ABC (already been chewed) gum between the sides of the yo-yo.]
  • Wheezie: There. And when you're done making it yo-yo, you can blow bubbles! [giggles and snorts, and then she tries to use it, but it comes apart again.]
  • Zak: Eck!
  • Ord: [digging through his pouch for the following item] Maybe I can put it back together with some tape.
  • [He has taken it out. Cassie, Emmy, and Max watch Ord as he tapes it just about all over, past the diameter of the circle pieces. Any of the tape roll not touching the pieces is being used as the extra string.]
  • Emmy: How do I get the string on?
  • Ord: Oh. You don't need string. See?
  • [He tries using it by placing his finger in the hole of the tape roll, moving it down, and spinning it "Around the world," but the remaining tape all sticks to his hand.]
  • Emmy: Thanks for trying, Ord, but my yo-yo's never gonna work right again.
  • [A pop is heard.]
  • Male Voice: Yo!
  • [The gang gasps, and the camera pans left to see that it is a gnome floating in mid-air while sitting criss-cross applesauce.]
  • Simon: I could fix your yo-yo!
  • Ord: Who-who are you?
  • Simon: IIIIIII'm Simon!
  • Emmy: Can you really fix my yo-yo?
  • Simon: Yes-yes, I can-can! All you have to do is win the "Simon Says" game!
  • Cassie: How do you play?
  • Simon: Just do what I say, but only when I say "Simon Says" like this: Simon says, "Touch your nose." [The gang laughs and obeys.] See? Nothing to it!
  • [He reaches into his jacket and pulls out a rolled up item. He unrolls it, revealing that it's a long path made up of different colored squares, like in a board game.]
  • Simon: Just do what Simon says, and you go forward! But if you move when I don't say "Simon Says", you have to go back!
  • Max: How do we win the game?
  • Simon: Easy. Just get to the end of the path.
  • The Gang: Okay! Yeah!
  • Simon: Great! Now, before we get started, let's meet one of our players. [He approaches Max, and a microphone magically appears in his right hand. He speaks into it.] What's your name, kiddo?
  • Max: [speaking into the microphone] Max.
  • Simon: Where you from, Max?
  • Max: The playroom.
  • Simon: Okay, "Max from the playroom", just step into the first square and let's play.
  • [Max obeys, but as soon as he jumps on the first red square, a buzzer is heard.]
  • Simon: Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't say "Simon Says"! You'll have to go back!
  • Ord: But there's no back to go to.
  • Simon: [chuckles] That's what you think!
  • [He waves his hand, and from where Max is standing, he extends the path of squares to a long, long distance back.]
  • Zak: [shaking his head] Oh, no!
  • Ord: Maybe we should just go ask Quetzal for some glue.
  • Emmy: Definitely! Come on, Max. Let's go.
  • Max: [trying to walk, but he can't] Oh! My feet are stuck!
  • Simon: Of course they are! Once you're on the path, the only way to get off is to win the game!
  • Zak: [nonchalantly] Oh, well. Good luck, Max. [He and Wheezie start walking away, but she stops them from going any further.]
  • Max: [reaching out to Emmy] Emmy...!
  • Emmy: [to the dragons and Simon] Max will never make it to the end alone! He's not good at doing what he's told. That's how he broke my yo-yo.
  • Cassie: Don't worry, Max. We'll play, too!
  • Max: [slightly reassured] Thanks.
  • [The rest of the gang joins Max on the path. Emmy pats his shoulder.]
  • Simon: Okay. Simon says, "Go all the way back." [chuckles]
  • [Off-screen crowd sadly goes, "Aww," as the gang walks the long, long distance to the beginning.]
  • [Cross-fade. The gang is standing at the newly-added beginning.]
  • Simon: Are you ready to begin again?
  • [All six members nod their heads.]
  • Simon: Okay! Simon says, "Move forward three squares."
  • Gang: [walking one square each and counting out loud] One, two, three.
  • [Ringing is heard.]
  • Ord: That wasn't so hard!
  • Simon: Of course not! And for doin' what I've told you... [He magically makes the following object appear] ... you each get a bite of this scrumptious dragonberry cookie!
  • Ord: My favorite!
  • Gang: [indistinctly and various] No, no, no, no...!
  • [Nevertheless, as irresistible as the product is, Ord starts biting on the cookie, but it just disappears without any even getting bitten and getting in his mouth, and the buzzer is heard.]
  • Simon: Ah, ah, ah. I didn't say, "Simon says." Simon says, "Go back two squares."
  • [Ord and the offscreen audience groan as they do so.]
  • Simon: Ah, don't look so sad. I'll show you how much fun this game could be once you get the hang of it. Simon says, "Tickle your armpit." [the gang obeys and giggles hysterically.] Good! Now, move four squares forward.
  • [Max obeys.]
  • Others: NO!!!
  • [Too late; the buzzer sounds.]
  • Simon: Uh-oh, it's going to cost you. Simon says, "Go back to square one."
  • [The offscreen audience groans as they obey.]
  • Cassie: You have to listen, Max! Really, really hard! Don't do anything unless you hear him say, "Simon says!"
  • Max: I'll try.
  • Simon: Okay, ladies and gentledragons! Simon says, "Touch someone's tail with your right hand."
  • [All but Max obeys. Max is confused; he holds up his opposite hand called.]
  • Emmy: Your other hand, Max!
  • Max: Uh...
  • [He puts the correct hand on Ord's tail; the dinger sounds.]
  • Simon: Very good! Simon says, "Move four squares forward." But don't let go of those tails.
  • [The gang obeys; more dinging.]
  • Simon: Excellent! Now, Simon says, "Touch someone else's tail with your left hand."
  • [Everyone obeys and giggles; dinging.]
  • Simon: Terrific! You can let go, now.
  • [Max starts to let go of Cassie's tail.]
  • Emmy: Max! No! [accidentally lets go of Zak and Wheezie's tail] Aagghhh!!
  • [The buzzer sound is heard when she re-grabs the tail.]
  • Simon: Sorry, but Simon says, "You'll have to go back two spaces."
  • [They obey.]
  • Zak: Oh, this is going to take forever!
  • Wheezie: Nuh-uh, we can do it!
  • Cassie: We just have to pay extra close attention.
  • Simon: And you'll have to pay extra close attention when you play... [one of the squares rises out of the ground like a staircase] The Slide Game! The higher up you go, the further down the path you slide! Simon says, "Step on up!"
  • [The gang obeys; dinging.]
  • Simon: That's the way Simon says, "Step up again!"
  • [Another square rises and they obey; dinging.]
  • Simon: Now you're cookin' Simon says, "Take three more steps."
  • [Three squares rise; they obey, dinging.]
  • Simon: I knew you could do it! Now two more.
  • [Two squares rise; this time Cassie obeys.]
  • Others: No!
  • [Buzzer.]
  • Simon: Oh, too bad! That's as high as you go! Simon says, "Take a short slide."
  • [The stairs turn into a slide which sends them down the path as they laugh and shout. They stop soon after.]
  • Max: That was cool!
  • Simon: Okay, players! You did pretty well with the high game; let's see how you do with the low one.
  • [He produces floating limbo sticks descending in height further down.]
  • Simon: Simon says, "Go as far as you can without touching the limbo sticks."
  • Wheezie: I just looooove limbo! Oh, you get to go so low! Whoop whoop!
  • [Zak gets out a tin kettle drum and they wear it.]
  • Wheezie: Go go go! Whoop whoop!
  • [The limboing begins; they walk under smallest to largest.]
  • Wheezie: Low low low! To jiggle a stick is a big no-no! Bend your back until it cracks and do the limbo! Go go go! Whoop whoop! Low low low! To jiggle a stick is a big no-no! Bend your back until it cracks and do the limbo!
  • Cassie: Careful, Ord!
  • [Ord bumps one of the sticks; he falls and the stick vanishes.]
  • Simon: Oops! That's as far as you go, big boy.
  • [Ord snaps his fingers in frustration. The limboing continues.]
  • Wheezie: Go go go! Whoop whoop! Low low low! To jiggle a stick is a big no-no! Bend your back until it cracks and do the limbo!
  • Zak: [struggles] We're not going to make it!!
  • Wheezie: [makes it under] Zak, your nose!
  • [Zak screams as he struggles; his nose bumps the stick, and they fall.]
  • Simon: Looks like you two are sticking right there.
  • [The limboing continues. Max and Emmy make it under the next lower stick, but Cassie doesn't; she bumps it, but stays upright. Now Max makes it under the next stick, but Emmy doesn't; she falls.]
  • Max: Huh?
  • Emmy: Keep going!
  • Others: Yeah!/Don't stop!/You can do it!
  • [More cheers as Max makes it under the next stick; he comes to the last stick which is extremely low.]
  • Max: Uh-oh!
  • [He pauses, then gets an idea. He crawls across the ground groaning, but makes it all the way under the stick without bumping. He stands as the dinging goes off, and the stick vanishes as everyone joins him and cheers happily.]
  • Simon: Well done, Max! And for being such a great little limboer, Simon says, "You get to take... a knuckerhole shortcut!"
  • [A knuckerhole pops up on one of the squares; they jump down it while laughing and shouting. They pop right out of another knuckerhole and land back on the path; they are almost at the end with two to go.]
  • Wheezie: Hey, look! There's only two squares to go!
  • Zak: Yeah, yeah, but I bet Simon's gonna trick us, and we'll have to go back to the beginning again!
  • Simon: Well, I'd never do that! The last one's always the easiest. Simon says, "Just move to the last square."
  • [They obey and reach the end of the path; dinging.]
  • Simon: Congratulations! You win!
  • [Everyone cheers happily; all but Max prepares to step off the board.]
  • Max: Wait! [they stop] He didn't say, "Simon says, 'You win!'"
  • Simon: Max from the playroom, you are absolutely right! [dinging] Tell the viewers how you figured that out!
  • Max: Easy. I just listened real hard.
  • Simon: Well, listen real hard to this! Simon says, "You win!"
  • [One more dinging sound; the gameboard disappears.]
  • Cassie: Congratulations, Max!
  • Ord: You're the best Simon Says-er in Dragon Land!
  • Simon: For being such a good Simon Says-er, Max has won his sister... A 100% fully repaired yo-yo!
  • [A prize door opens to reveal Emmy's yo-yo, fully repaired to pristine condition. She takes it and she and Max hug while giggling. Simon waves goodbye and disappears in sparkles.]
  • Emmy and Max: I wish, I wish, to use this rhyme, to go back home until next time.
  • [They return home to the playroom.]
  • Emmy: Look, Max! My yo-yo's good as new! [tests it]
  • Max: [remorseful] Sorry I broke it, Emmy. From now on, I'm gonna try to listen to what you tell me.
  • Emmy: Okay. I'll give you a test. Emmy says, "Stand on one foot." [Max obeys] Emmy says, "Touch your nose."
  • Max: [obeys and stumbles] Whoa! Max says, "Look out!"
  • [He falls on Emmy and they plow to the ground; they laugh as the view fades out.]
