Dialogue[]

  • [Emmy is blowing bubbles.]
  • Emmy: Look at this one, Max! Pretty good, huh? Check this out.
  • [She blows a giant bubble; suddenly, the secret door shines.]
  • Max: The magic dragon scale!
  • Emmy: Let's go!
  • [Changes to them holding the scale.]
  • Emmy and Max: I wish, I wish, with all my heart, to fly with Dragons, in a land apart.
  • [The dragon tapestries on the wall fly off and spin around them. At the School in the Sky, a day is going as normal when Max and Emmy appear in Quetzal's seat.]
  • Max: Hi, everybody!
  • Zak: [in a panic] Boy, am I glad you're here. Wheezie and I are in big trouble!
  • Wheezie: We are?
  • Emmy: What's wrong?
  • Zak: Shh. Quetzal will explain.
  • Quetzal: [enters] Hola, Max and Emmy. Nice to have you with us. Bueno. [gets out his big storybook and sits down] As all my students know, today is a very special day. Today is the...
  • All dragons but Zak: Dragon Fair!!!
  • Quetzal: Sí. The Dragon Fair. A whole day of fun and games.
  • Max: Like what?
  • Quetzal: Like arts and crafts.
  • Cassie: I'm all ready! [gets out a basket] I'm gonna make the most beautiful basket in all of Dragon Land!
  • Quetzal: And the pie-eating contest.
  • Ord: I haven't eaten all day! Well, at least not since breakfast, anyway.
  • Quetzal: And the famous Dunk Quetzal game! In which no one has ever dunked me, by the way.
  • Red dragon: Ha, ha. Wait till this year.
  • [All chatter and laugh.]
  • Quetzal: And best of all... [Zak cringes] the Sackberry Toss!
  • Zak: YIKES! He said it! That's our big trouble!
  • Wheezie: You're worried about the Sackberry Toss?
  • Emmy: Sackberry Toss? What's that?
  • Quetzal: [activates the big storybook with magical dust, showing a page demonstrating] Well, you and a friend toss a big sackberry back and forth, stepping further and further apart, all the while. You must try to catch the sackberry. It's muy importante, because if you drop it, you'll get covered in sackberry juice!
  • Emmy: (It) sounds like a water balloon toss back home. But I still don't get it. Why are you in trouble?
  • Zak: Because we don't know how to catch!
  • Wheezie: So?
  • Zak: So? So?! That could happen to us!
  • Wheezie: Oh, Zaky, it'll be fun!
  • Zak: It'll be messy! Unless... you could teach us how to catch, Emmy!
  • Emmy: Sure. I'm a great catcher.
  • Ord: Will you help me practice for the pie-eating contest, Max?
  • Max: Pie eating? Yum! You bet.
  • Quetzal: All right, hijos! Let the Dragon Fair begin!
  • [Everyone cheers; some time later, the Dragon Fair is on! Quetzal is set up at his dunking booth.]
  • Quetzal: The Dunk Quetzal booth is now officially open! Who wants to try first?
  • [A turquoise dragon tosses her ball but misses. Later, Cassie is at the arts and crafts table with the other participants.]
  • Cassie: I'm gonna put everything on my basket. It'll look so beautiful. First, some paint...
  • [She starts painting and getting messy all over. Elsewhere, Ord and Max are outside the pie-eating contest tent while Ord is holding a submarine sandwich.]
  • Ord: So you'll time me, right, Max? I gotta practice if I'm gonna win the contest!
  • Max: You're gonna eat that whole thing?
  • Ord: Sure. My dad says you can never get too much practice.
  • Max: Okay! Start when I say "go." [Ord holds up the sandwich] Ready? On your mark, get set--
  • [Ord swallows the sandwich whole.]
  • Max: Uh, Ord, you're supposed to wait for "go."
  • Ord: Waiting makes me hungry.
  • [They laugh loudly; somewhere else, Emmy has brought out a ball for Zak and Wheezie to practice catching.]
  • Emmy: Catching is a cinch. First, you need to keep your eye on the ball. It's important to use both hands. Also--
  • Wheezie: Okay, okay, got it! [runs far away with Zak] Let's do it!
  • Zak: Do what?!
  • Wheezie: Come on. Throw it! We're ready to catch now!
  • Zak: We are?
  • [Emmy throws the ball at them. Zak looks while Wheezie is distracted. The ball hits Zak's neck.]
  • Wheezie: You threw it too hard!
  • Emmy: Let's try it again.
  • [It rolls into the arts and crafts tent under the table; Emmy gets it. She sees Cassie still painting and messy.]
  • Cassie: Hi, Emmy. Look at my basket!
  • Emmy: Great colors, Cassie.
  • Cassie:Just wait till you see it with the feathers!
  • [She adds glue to put some feathers on as Emmy leaves; some of the feathers gather on Cassie's face and mane. Back to the catching practice.]
  • Emmy: Ready? Catch!
  • [She throws the ball; it hits Wheezie in the face and bounces off Zak's ear before rolling off their tail.]
  • Zak: I knew it! I knew we couldn't catch! I said so from the beginning!
  • Wheezie: So, what? This is fun.
  • Zak: But we have to learn how to catch, or we'll end up covered with sackberry juice! Ugh...
  • [Elsewhere, Ord is eyeing a stand full of pies.]
  • Ord: Mmm... Dragonberry pie... Blueberry pie... Raspberry pie... And they're all berry, berry good. [Max giggles as he takes some] Think I can eat these in three seconds?
  • Max: All of them?
  • Ord: I gotta practice, right?
  • Max: Okay. I'll time you. Go! [Ord starts eating] One, two, three... Time's up! *[Ord's belly has bloated.]
  • Max: Wow! I think you're ready now!
  • [Back to catching practice.]
  • Emmy: Let's start from the beginning. Here's a nice, easy one.
  • [She throws it as a butterfly passes by; Wheezie is distracted by it.]
  • Wheezie: Ooh!
  • [The ball bounces off her, and they miss.]
  • Emmy: That's lesson number one, Wheezie. Always keep your eye on the ball.
  • [Wheezie holds the ball and presses her eye up against it.]
  • Emmy: [laughs] No, Wheezie! I mean, watch the ball.
  • Wheezie: Oh, I'm watching it, but it isn't doing anything. [tosses the ball back to Emmy]
  • Emmy: No. When I throw it, watch it come to you. Here. Try again. [throws it]
  • Zak: YIKES! [ducks down and misses the ball] It's gonna hit me!
  • Emmy: You can't catch it if you don't watch it all the way into your hands.
  • Zak: But I can't watch it, and I can't catch it! I can't take it!
  • Emmy: You can do it, Zak! I know you can! You just have to, uh...uh... imagine the ball is a giant pizza pie.
  • Ord: [nearby, overhears] Pie!??!
  • Max: Uh-oh...
  • [Emmy throws the ball; Ord watches as the ball changes into a pizza pie.]
  • Ord: Pizza pie...!!!
  • Max: Ord, NO!
  • [Ord jumps right in front of Zak and Wheezie and the ball lands in his mouth. He suddenly falls and chokes before pulling the ball out. It is covered with Ord's saliva.]
  • 'Wheezie: Uh... Is that how you want us to catch?
  • Emmy: [sighs] Not exactly. Lesson number two: Use both hands to catch the ball. Don't forget lesson one: Keep your eye on the ball the whole time.
  • Zak: Ugh. Hands to catch.
  • Wheezie: Eye on the ball.
  • [Emmy throws it; the ball bounces out of their hands and hits a tree; Zak misses and the ball flies back to Emmy.]
  • Emmy: You have to use both hands together to catch. Go ahead. You can do it!
  • [She throws it; it bounces out of Zak and Wheezie's hands and flies in the opposite direction.]
  • Wheezie: Huh?
  • [Back at the Dunk Quetzal booth...]
  • Quetzal: [laughs] I haven't been dunked yet!
  • [The ball appears and hits the target, dunking Quetzal into the tank as the dragons cheer.]
  • Wheezie: I did it! I dunked Quetzal! Loooooove it!
  • Quetzal: Oh, well. I needed to cool off, anyway.
  • Zak: But we didn't catch the ball.
  • Wheezie: Ugh, catching isn't as easy as I thought.
  • Quetzal: [drying off] Bueno, niños! The big Sackberry Toss is coming up in a few minutes!
  • Zak: A few minutes??!!??
  • Quetzal: But right now, it's time for the pie-eating contest.
  • [Unfortunately, Ord is sprawled out on the ground near the pie stand, belly totally bloated and all the pies gone.]
  • Max: Did you hear that?!
  • Ord: [groans tiredly] I can't believe I ate all those pies.
  • Max: Come on!
  • [Max pulls Ord into the pie-eating tent.]
  • Quetzal: Ah! Ord, glad you made it. I know you've been getting ready for the pie-eating contest.
  • [Ord sits down.]
  • Quetzal: On your mark, get set, go!
  • [The contest begins and the dragons near Ord begin munching down the pies. Ord takes one.]
  • Ord: I'm stuffed.
  • [He takes one single bite and faints to the ground.]
  • Ord: [groans] Maybe I practiced too much.
  • [Back to the practice.]
  • Emmy: Okay, we don't have much time left. Lesson number three: Keep your body in front of the ball.
  • Zak and Wheezie: Ready!
  • [She throws the ball.]
  • Zak: YIKES!!
  • [He pulls Wheezie out of the way; the ball misses them. Emmy hangs her head.]
  • Wheezie: Come on, Zaky! We have to stand in front of the ball if we're gonna catch the sackberry. You do wanna catch the sackberry, don't you?
  • [Zak imagines him and Wheezie getting covered with sackberry juice.]
  • Zak: [confident] Yes. Yes, yes, I do.
  • [They get back into place.]
  • Zak: Eye on the ball.
  • Wheezie: Use both hands.
  • Zak and Wheezie: Get in front!
  • [Emmy throws the ball one final time. They catch it, but it slips out of their hands and lands in their pouch.]
  • Wheezie: Good catch!
  • 'Zak: Uh-oh. Not so good. [takes it out]
  • 'Wheezie: But we almost caught it.
  • Quetzal: And now the prize for the best arts and crafts!
  • Emmy: That's Cassie's contest! I hope she wins.
  • [Quetzal is judging the arts and crafts table.]
  • Quetzal: Remember, niños, I'm looking for the most colorful and original art project.
  • [He looks at the various finished projects; he stops on the completely messy Cassie with her finished basket.]
  • Quetzal: And I found it. This is for you, Cassie. [gives her a prize ribbon]
  • Cassie: My basket! It won!
  • Quetzal: Not your basket. [laughs] This is for you. You're the most original and colorful work of art at the Dragon Fair.
  • Cassie: [giggles] Mmm, I guess I am.
  • [Changes to the bloated Ord and messy Cassie under a tree; it is time for the Sackberry Toss to begin.]
  • Queztal: And now, the final event of the Dragon Fair, the Sackberry Toss! Are you ready, niños? I'm going to throw the sackberry.
  • Zak: Boy, That's an awful lot of sackberry juice in that sackberry.
  • [Quetzal throws the sackberry at them.]
  • Quetzal: Whoops! Sorry, bad throw!
  • [Zak and Wheezie run to catch up with the falling sackberry as it flies down at them. They back up far enough and put their hands out... and they successfully catch it!]
  • Zak: We did it! We really did it!
  • Emmy: All right!
  • Cassie: Way to go!
  • Max: Yay!
  • Wheezie: With our claws and everything!
  • [As Wheezie speaks, hers and Zak's badges glow, signifying their success at learning to catch.]
  • Zak: Look! Our dragon badge!
  • Wheezie: Aw, wowie! [wraps her neck around Zak's]
  • Quetzal: Great job, niños! Now, everyone take one step further apart.
  • [Everyone obeys.]
  • Zak: Oh, why does it have to get tougher?
  • [They throw their sackberry at Quetzal, he catches it.]
  • Quetzal: [laughs] That's why they used to call me the Sackberry King of Dragon Land.
  • [Emmy throws her sackberry to Max; he catches it, but stumbles.]
  • Max: Oh!
  • [A turquoise dragon throws her sackberry; her indigo partner misses and gets covered in sackberry juice.]
  • Wheezie: [laughs]
  • Quetzal: Here it comes! Huh?
  • [He throws his sackberry; it is caught by a red bird as he gasps. The sackberry weighs the bird down as Zak and Wheezie angles themselves before the bird drops it. The sackberry lands on their heads, splattering them all over with sackberry juice.]
  • Zak: Ugh! Messy! [tastes some] But delicious! Ha-ha-ha-ha!
  • [Everyone laughs.]
  • Wheezie: [kisses Zak's cheek and slurps] Loooooove it!
  • Emmy and Max: I wish, I wish, to use this rhyme, to go back home until next time.
  • [They teleport back home to the playroom.]
  • Max: I'm the best catcher in the world! I can catch anything! I can catch a ball, I can catch a sackberry, there isn't anything in the world I can't catch!
  • [Emmy blows some bubbles; Max tries to catch them but they pop in his hands.]
  • Max: Okay. Maybe one thing.
  • [They laugh as the view fades out.]
