Follow The Leader is the first segment of the thirty-first episode of the first season of Dragon Tales

While playing a game, Emmy has been captured by Pooky the Troll from the Towering Village.

Emmy and Max are playing a board game in the playroom when they notice a squirrel in the window. After they both said ‘squirrel’ at the same time, Emmy jinxes Max, leaving him unable to talk (or make a sound) until someone says his name. Without talking, Max tells her he wants to go to Dragon Land, in which she joins him.

Once they get to Dragon Land, Wheezie breaks Max’s jinx by saying his name. Now being able to talk again, Max suggests they go jump in a pile of leaves, but Emmy instead decides to have them play Follow the Leader, with her as the leader. But with her being in charge, she leads the group to do things that Max is unable to do, including climbing and sliding down Turtle Rock, jumping across a river and doing somersaults.

Max then gets fed up with Emmy making the game too hard for him and quits. But just as he does, a giant troll named Pooky comes in and takes Emmy away as a playtoy. Max and the dragons follow Pooky to Towering Village, where they find Emmy in a giant dollhouse. Pooky then takes Emmy out to play with her, leaving Max and the dragons trapped in the house.

Pooky wants Emmy to play Follow the Leader, but Emmy starts getting a taste of her own medicine when Pooky wants her to do things she’s too small for, just as Emmy did to Max.

Once her friends escape, Emmy comes up with a plan to make things fun for everyone. She has Max and the dragons put together a kite for Pooky. After the troll runs off to play with it, Emmy goes back with her friends and they resume their game of Follow the Leader. However, this time, Emmy decides to have Max be the leader, which makes him happy.

Once the kids get back to the playroom, Max jinxes Emmy after they both said, "We’re home," but immediately un-jinxes her after saying her name.

Memorable Quotes[]

  • Emmy: Put me down!
  • Emmy: No! It’s too hard! I’m too little! Gee. I sound like Max.

Notes and Trivia[]

  • Moral: Everybody has their own pace, and it's not fair to force them to meet up to your standards. Find a way to play where everyone feels included.
  • This is the second and final time Max remains silent during the initial rhyme to go to Dragon Land; the first time was in the series premiere, "To Fly With Dragons." Granted, that was because they didn't both know the rhyme, whereas this was because Emmy jinxed him.
