Dialogue[]

  • [In the playroom, Emmy is playing with blocks while Max is playing with a toy plane making flying noises. He throws it in the air and it crashes the blocks to the ground.]
  • Emmy: Max, stop it!
  • Max: [picks up the plane] My plane! It's broken! Now I can't fly anymore.
  • Emmy: It's okay, Max. I know something better we can fly.
  • Max: Yeah! Dragons!
  • [They open the box with the magic dragon scale and hold it.]
  • Emmy and Max: I wish, I wish, with all my heart, to fly with dragons in a land apart.
  • [The dragons on the wallpaper leap off and spin around them; they disappear. In Dragon Land, the dragons are outside the School in the Sky making cups and pots; Max and Emmy appear next to them.]
  • Max: Hi, everyone! What're you doing?
  • Cassie: Making presents for I Love My Mommy Day.
  • Zak: We're painting cups and plates.
  • Wheezie: And baking them with our fire breath.
  • Emmy: Cool!
  • [Zak sets down his mug and Wheezie uses her fire breath to bake it. Zak touches it, but it's too hot.]
  • Zak: NO! HOT HOT HOT!!! AGH! HOT!!! [grabs it by the handle]
  • Max: Can I make a flower holder for my mommy?
  • Ord: You betcha. [hands his vase to Max]
  • Max: She'll love it even more with these. [picks some dandelions and puts them in it]
  • Ord: Max, no, I'm--ah--allergic to dandeli-aaaaat CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  • [The sneeze knocks everything all over the place; all the paint spills out of their tins.]
  • Cassie: Oh, no! The colors all spilled!
  • Wheezie: That's okay. Quetzal has more. Come on!
  • [They go inside and find Quetzal.]
  • Ord: May we have more paint, Quetzal? Max and Emmy are gonna make I Love My Mommy Day presents with us.
  • Quetzal: Buenos días, niños. What colors would you like?
  • Emmy: My favorite color is red, gracias.
  • Quetzal: Rojo. Coming right up.
  • Max: And I like blue, and purple, green and yellow and brown and...
  • Quetzal: Ay, caramba!
  • Zak: What's the matter, Quetzal?
  • Quetzal: We're running out of paint.
  • All: Aw...
  • Quetzal: Don'’t be sad, niños. All you need to do is get some more colors, and I'll make you some more paint.
  • Ord: Where do we get the colors?
  • Quetzal: Why, Rainbow Canyon, of course.
  • Cassie: I know where that is! But I don't know how to get there from here.
  • Quetzal: Not to worry, Cassie. I'll make you a map.
  • [He paints the map up for them. He shows the directions:]
  • Quetzal: This is our school. You'’ll start here. Then go up the river to Turtle Rock, follow the Golden Stone Trail around, but not through, Dandelion Forest, until you see Rainbow Canyon. If you need to get home in a hurry, there'’s a boat you can borrow right over here. Did I tell you it rains every afternoon in the canyon? Making a beautiful rainbow.
  • Cassie: That's why it's called Rainbow Canyon!
  • Quetzal: Exactamente, Cassie. But you have to get the colors before it rains.
  • Ord: Why?
  • Quetzal: Because the water makes the colors all run together and turn muddy.
  • All: Thanks, Quetzal! Adiós!
  • [Changes to the gang in flight high in the sky.]
  • Emmy: Come on, Max. Let's give Mom our presents.
  • [Max trips and drops his vase.]
  • Max: Oh, no! My present broke!
  • Emmy: No biggie, Max. Your flowers in my mug go together like pieces of a puzzle.
