Small Time is the first segment of the thirty-third episode of the first season of Dragon Tales.
Summary[]
Upon entering Dragon Land, Max and Emmy encounter Shrinking Violets, which shrink them down to ant size.
Plot[]
Emmy enters the playroom eating an apple to find Max pretending to drive a car, practicing to be able to drive the bumper cars at the amusement park. He asks Emmy if he's tall enough to do so, dissatisfied that he's too little to do that or reach the water fountain at school when the Dragon Scale starts to glow. Before departing, Emmy packs a pink kickball she promised to bring.
Upon arriving, nobody is around to greet Emmy or Max, so they start playing kickball until Emmy kicked the ball high enough that it lands in a flower bush, where it gets sprayed with a thick, purple mist and shrinks to the size of a marble. Max and Emmy both go to look for the ball, but they could not see it, when suddenly, they both get sprayed by the purple mist and shrink down in size, themselves! Emmy and Max are puzzled at this turn of events, when the flowers responsible, known as Shrinking Violets, start speaking and apologize for their actions, explaining that when Shrinking Violets are in full bloom, anything that comes in contact with them shrinks. They do not know how to reverse the shrinking ailment.
At that point, Ord, Cassie, Zak and Wheezie have arrived looking for their friends, much to Cassie's confusion because Emmy and Max are usually prompt to react to their call. Thinking they might be saved immediately, Max and Emmy get past a Caterpoozle and try calling out, but to no avail. They then try heading for higher ground by standing on a mushroom, but still, their friends - despite thinking they hear Emmy and Max's voices - don't see them. Ord is baffled to only find Emmy's backpack and not her or Max, and Zak and Wheezie wonder why her backpack is there but their friends are not.
Cassie asks Ord where he found the backpack, and mentions that they were next to the Shrinking Violets, which Cassie warns Ord to stay away from. Then, Zak and Wheezie finds Emmy's shrunken kickball and show it to Cassie, who realizes Emmy and Max might have been shrunk. She warns everyone to be careful not to step on their friends as she starts calling out for them.
Zak uses his magnifying glass to search, but only finds a Jugglebug, a pink snail, a stinky dink bug and the caterpoozle. Ord takes out his binoculars to search, and narrowly almost steps on Emmy and Max as he does! Max suggests going back home to evade the danger, but Emmy notes that even if they did, they would still be shrunk. A leaf falls from a tree and lands on top of Emmy and Max like a parachute, giving Emmy an idea to fold it like a paper airplane. They launch the leaf trying to get Ord's attention, but it didn't catch enough wind and crashes. Max then spots some downed dragonberries, and so Emmy builds a catapult to launch it high enough for Ord to notice. However, upon launch, the dragonberry zooms past Ord (who did not see the flying dragonberry) and ricochets off a dandelion leaf, hitting Max and Emmy in the face!
Max and Emmy had almost given up hope when they spot the Doodle Fairy waking up from a nap in a flower. She is surprised to see Max and Emmy shrunken, and agrees to help them. Meanwhile, Cassie is convinced that they stepped on Max and Emmy, but Ord is determined to find their friends after checking their feet to be sure, and Wheezie is distracted by a purple button. The gang continues looking when the Doodle Fairy enters Ord's binoculars, startling him into dropping his binoculars (which Emmy and Max narrowly avoid) when he mistook the Doodle Fairy for a giant.
The Doodle Fairy gets back on her feet and uses fairy dust to draw Emmy and Max to tell the dragons where they are, and guides them to their exact location. Emmy thanks the Doodle Fairy, and the dragons bring their friends to the School in the Sky, where Quetzal commends the duo for never giving up on getting their friends' attention. He then sprinkles a magical red antidote that reverses the shrinking effect, restoring Max and Emmy to their regular size.
The duo return home, but land in Max's pretend car. Max remarks that being stuck is the only exception to being back to regular size again, and Emmy tells Max to push until they fall over in order to get out, chuckling.

Notes and Trivia[]
- This is the first time Max changes size and the only time Emmy changes size, when they shrank down to ant size after being exposed to the Shrinking Violets. The second time Max changes size is in One Big Wish, when Max makes a wish on Willie the Wishing Well to be bigger and as a result he gets bigger and bigger.
