Plot[]

The episode starts with Emmy and Max in the playroom sitting near the kid table drawing and coloring. The kids heard their mom calling out to them, asking them if everything is okay in the playroom. Emmy replied to her that everything is okay, telling their mom that she and her little brother are just coloring. Emmy finishes her drawing and shows it to Max. Max was amazed seeing his sister's picture drawing of a dragon that looks just like Cassie. Emmy informs Max that the picture she made really is Cassie and wants to give her pink dragon friend her drawing as a present. Max realizes that his sister is going to Dragon Land, so is he. Max says that he has a surprise for his blue dragon friend Ord as he reaches into his pocket. Emmy ask Max what it is. Max pulled out his used bubble gum to give to Ord. Max suggested that he and Emmy should also give something to Zak and Wheezie. Emmy had an idea, went to the toy box and took out two harmonicas to give to their two-headed dragon friend. Emmy opens the secret drawer taking out the small gold box revealing the Dragon Scale saying how pretty it is. After saying the rhyme, the dragons on the wallpaper come to life and magically teleport Emmy and Max to Dragon Land.

In Dragon Land, two dragons leave the School in the Sky, heading to the school playground. Ord, Cassie, Zak and Wheezie are also at the playground. Max and Emmy magically appears on the slide and goes down from it. Ord and Cassie says their names. Then, Max and Emmy were both happily screaming going down the slide. Ord gave his human friends a big hug. Emmy gave her drawing to Cassie. Cassie realize it's a picture of herself and she likes it. They are called into the School in the Sky, along with their dragon friends. Quetzal assigns Ord a special mission. He needs to go into the Forest of Darkness, find a starseed, and bring it back. His friends can go with him, but he becomes scared when he gets there and is afraid of the dark.

Memorable Quotes[]

  • Mom: Emmy! Max! Everything okay up there?
  • Emmy: Yeah, Mom! We're just coloring!
  • Forest Bird: So, which is it? Lost, or not lost?
  • Max: Nice bird.
  • Zak: In case you haven’t noticed, Ord can turn invisible when he’s scared. We’ll never find him! NEVER EVER! NOT IN A GAZILLION YEARS!!!!
  • Emmy: [She spots a little river flowing across the grass] Oh, yes we will. Where do you think THAT’S coming from? [They all advance to the source of the river as the terrified Ord is heard sobbing his eyes out. By the time they find him still invisible, it’s discovered that the river was actually coming from Ord’s tears] Ord, PLEASE stop crying. You’re gonna wash away everything in Dragon Land. Tell us what’s wrong, Ord.
  • Max: Look! I bet that's Ord's surprise!
  • Emmy: Wow. His own star.

Goofs[]

  • In some shots involving the Forest Bird (including where nothing is seen but her eyes), her sclerae (the whites of the eyes) are shown to be pale green, and sometimes, they are white.

Notes and Trivia[]

  • This episode is the source of the scene and background for the PBS Kids website promo (said by Ord and later Wheezie), seen after each episode's second segment before the credits.
  • Ord's invisibility defense is seen for the first time in this episode.
  • Emmy gives Zak and Wheezie harmonicas in this episode. They are seen in future episodes.
  • When Ord chants, "I think I can!" repeatedly, this is a reference to the children's story, The Little Engine that Could.
  • This is the first episode where any of the dragon badges glow. In this case, for the first time, Ord's badge glowed because he overcame his fear of the dark.
  • In this episode, the Forest Bird is voiced by Andrea Libman, also the voice of Emmy.
  • This episode is presumably the first one to have dialogue recorded for it, as Ord’s voice is significantly less developed, Zak's voice sounds not as raspy as it usually is, and Cassie’s voice is missing its usual pitch-shifting,
  • It is also the first episode where Max and Emmy's house's exterior isn't shown. Instead, it starts straight in the playroom.
